Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Why The Third Doctor Is The Best Ever
7. Hes A Fighter
Of all the Doctors, the Third Doctor was the king of combat. He usually relied on his famous mastery of Venusian Aikido, but was not above bare-knuckle fisticuffs when provoked. Armed guards? Ogrons? Sub-human mutations? He had them all for breakfast. He even took on a Sontaran once, though in that contest he came off second best. His greatest fight was undoubtedly his fencing match with the Master (more on him later). He made his rival Time Lord look a proper mug as he taunted, dodged and ate sandwiches. A gentleman in all things, he flicked his disarmed opponents sword back to him. This was probably unwise as the Master was not as chivalrous, throwing a knife at the Doctors back after being been soundly beaten in a fair fight. Some other Doctors have tried to match the Third's hand-to-hand prowess but their attempts are a bit weedy in comparison. A few grappling matches or punches thrown hardly cut the mustard. The Twelfth Doctor did disarm Robin Hood with a cameo chop and Hai! in Robot of Sherwood. That was nostalgic, but only the War Doctor is likely to be a true hand-to-hand rival to the Third.
Older than some and taller than most. Grey of eye and white of beard.
Stephen's book 'Hiding', about a boy who meets a goblin in a local wood, is available to download from the usual places. Think of it as a scavenger hunt.
