Doctor Who: 10 Revived Series Episodes You'll Only Watch Once
10. Nightmare In Silver
Remember when the Cybermen were scary? Doctor Who fans rejoiced when it was announced that Neil Gaiman would be lending his creativity to an adventure featuring the notorious metal monsters, especially as his first contribution, The Doctor's Wife, had previously gone down like a House on fire (pun intended). In retrospect, though, he needn't have bothered. Suffice to say, their new found ultra speed was "deleted" just as quickly as it was introduced as it was nowhere to be seen (and thank God for that!) when they returned in the Series 8 finale last year. In a nutshell, Hedgewick's World of Wonders was anything but so let's just hope that the Doctor never sets his sights on it again. For the viewers, once was enough, too! Hell, even Clara looked bored by the end of it. The plot was lacking, the guest ensemble were just that (as much as it pains us to say it, Warwick Davis was tragically underused) and even Matt Smith's climactic showdown with himself isn't enough to encourage a second viewing. As such, Nightmare in Silver is an episode that should have been a lot better but, for whatever reason, it failed to live up to the expectations that preceded it. And who's idea was it to suddenly make the Cybermen superfast anyway?! Perhaps time - or in this case the lack of it - was ultimately this episode's downfall. It feels like it was all mashed together at the last minute and even Neil himself has admitted that he would've liked longer to fine tune the script. That's TV for you, Neil!
