Doctor Who: 10 Storylines That Should've Been A Spin Off

9. Life Of The Stewart

There is one surname which Doctor Who fans quiver with excitement about: Stewart. Brigadier Alastair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, an iconic ally of the Doctor and a legendary character in his own right, became part of the Doctor's life during the Time Lord's second incarnation. However, when the Eleventh Doctor was preparing for his death in Series 6, he found out that the Brigadier had unfortunately died, too (owing to the fact that, in reality, his real life alter ego Nicholas Courtney had passed away, aged 81). The Brig's last televised appearance was in an episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures but his daughter, Kate, was introduced to us during Series 7's The Power of Three to keep the memory of her father alive. She has been a recurring character since, having appeared in the 50th anniversary special The Day of the Doctor and the Series 8 finale, but at this point it's a widely cited fact that she really should just have her own spin off by now. Yes, she has an audio series on the way as part of Big Finish's upcoming UNIT HQ collection, but since she's a character who embodies such history in terms of her family and the show's mythology, she really does warrant a TV series of her very own.
