Doctor Who: 10 Things Everyone Always Gets Wrong About The Daleks

3. They Need A Spokesperson

After Genesis of the Daleks introduced Davros, there was a feeling that he should speak for the Daleks in all future encounters. The problem with this was that the Daleks had never needed a spokesperson before.

Throughout the 1960s the Daleks are manipulative, controlling, and downright shifty. In The Power of the Daleks they masquerade as robot servants on Vulcan while rebuilding their armies, and in The Evil of the Daleks they dangle the ability to create gold in front of Professor Maxtible to convince him to go along with their plans.

It's downright wrong to imply that the Daleks were incapable of having compelling conversations. Their clashes with Mavic Chen in The Daleks' Master Plan are truly memorable, as they regularly remind him who's boss.

Once Davros was introduced, the Daleks were sadly reduced to killing machines that endlessly screeched their catchphrases, but thankfully, RTD, Gatiss, Moffat, and Chibnall all remembered the sneakier side of the Daleks and have used Davros sparingly.

Victory of the Daleks certainly has its problems, but it's a brilliant tribute to those servant Daleks from The Power of the Daleks.
