Likewise, another of the best Who episodes of this decade was Heaven Sent. On paper, it was a massive gamble to do an episode which consisted entirely of Peter Capaldi talking to himself while wandering through corridors, but in the end it worked out brilliantly, in particular, thanks to Capaldi's masterclass performance and a twisty-turny script from Moffat.

Seeing as trying something different on that occasion turned out so well, it would be a great idea to see this sort of outside-the-box thinking attempted again this year. Moffat has previously spoken about how he has grown tired of writing the big 'event' episodes and wants to do more of these smaller chamber pieces. Hopefully he got the chance in Series 10, as these kind of episodes prove that you can still find new ways of telling a Doctor Who story, even after over 50 years.
