Doctor Who: 10 Things You Didn't Know About The Pantheon Of The Gods

3. The Krampus Is A Member Of The Pantheon

In European folklore, the Krampus is a sort of anti-Santa, who punishes naughty boys and girls by gifting them coal instead of toys. He also carries a basket for the transportation of truly evil children to hell!

The Krampus of folklore has made several appearances in Doctor Who spinoff media, including the terrific Paul McGann audio story Better Watch Out. But the most notable Krampus appearance was in the Doctor Who Magazine comic-strip Imaginary Enemies.

Here, Krampus tries to bring chaos to the timelines by erasing the existence of Amy, Rory, and Mels (a.k.a. River Song) when they are children in the 1990s. If this sounds similar to the Trickster's plot to erase the existence of another Doctor Who companion in the Sarah Jane Adventures, then there's a reason for that: this version of Krampus was a member of the Trickster's Pantheon of Discord, later rebranded as the Pantheon of the Gods!

It's unclear if the Krampus is one of the gods or merely a member of the Trickster's Brigade, but either way, this is a Doctor Who Christmas special just begging to be made.

Russell, that one's on the house!
