Doctor Who: 10 Things You Never Realised About Series 6 Of NuWho

9. Only Regeneration Scene Of A Child

Series 6 was unique in the fact that it contained the first regeneration shown on screen that was not of the Master nor The Doctor, and to be fair, the person in question isn't technically 100% Time Lord herself. Oh, and that person in question also couldn't have been older than eight years old when it happened. Of course, this reference is to Melody Pond, otherwise known as River Song, who found herself facing an incurable and terminal illness on the streets of New York. As the clever girl that she is, she knew that she could regenerate and fix herself right up, to the shock of a homeless gentleman who had offered what little assistance he could prior to seeing her engulfed in a bright light. Many fans assume, and many yet wonder, if she did indeed regenerate directly into Amy's friend Mels, or was there another body in there between the little Melody Pond and Mels? Perhaps Series 9 could possibly explore that avenue further? In either case, Series 6 showed that it's not only fully grown Time Lords that regenerate, but that they are even able to even at a young age, if needed.
