Doctor Who: 10 Things You Never Realised About Series 6 Of NuWho

5. The First Question

Ask any Doctor Who fan what the First Question is and they will reply back with two simple words... Doctor Who? No, this isn't a running gag of answering a question with a question, but instead, it's the question that can never be answered, for fear of the end of the universe... or something. The question "Doctor Who"? instead refers to the Doctor's name, something that has never been spoken or referred to in any televised, book, comic or audio adventure. According to information in the Teselecta's computer, this question was "the first question, the oldest question in the universe, hidden in plain sight". As it was created across all of space and time by the Time Lords, in order to find the correct universe to escape to (as revealed in The Time of the Doctor), it could indeed be the very first question asked. But why is it so dangerous? Well, according to the Doctor (in Series 7), if the Time Lords were to return, it would reignite the Time-War, causing untold damage to this and other universes, and that would be a bad thing indeed. Series 6 was the first time the reference to "Doctor Who?" wasn't just a cheap plug at the show naming itself during an episode. Although many fans are holding out to finally discover the name of the Doctor one day, many others are hoping that it's never revealed, as it's one of the many mysteries that keeps people flocking to Doctor Who year after year.
