Doctor Who: 11 Awesome And Nerdy Fan Creations

2. Refurbished Enemy Within TARDIS Console

TARDISConsole213 Say what you will about the 1996 BBC/FOX coproduction The Enemy Within, a divisive movie to say the least, but the TARDIS console room is viewed by many to be one of the coolest looking. Steampunk before steampunk was a thing (well, not as much of a thing as it is now), all hardwood and brass, it was a thing of beauty. TARDISConsole21 Well, a writer/producer from Burbank, CA, Paul J. Salamoff, must be its biggest fan. Not only does he own the actual console prop, but he and two other fans spent months refurbishing it, even giving it sound board and speaker with movie accurate sounds! It was fairly functional when he got his hands on it, but he needed to fix the clocks, a few switches, a lever, and replace the lights with LEDs. He wanted it turned into an interactive piece in time for the 23rd annual Gallifrey One convention in Los Angeles. TARDISConsole12 A veteran of the film industry who has worked as a Writer, Producer, Executive, and began his career as a Special F/X Make-Up Artist, he is also a longtime Whovian, with this being his 15th year attending the largest Doctor Who convention in the States. Tardis_2 The console was kept in a hotel meeting room where, for one hour every day, fans could have their photo taken with the console. By Saturday there were so many attendees wanting their picture taken that many had to be turned away. Mr. Salamoff would love to take the prop to other conventions, and share the piece with as many fans as he can.

A writer in spirit, a baker by profession. Carl has been a comic shop impresario, comic book illustrator, record store clerk, electronic musician, late night radio DJ, club promoter, graphic designer, and other cool things you wish you could be. He mistakenly had purple dreadlocks once. For three years. Which made him way less cool. He doesn't actually know what the word impresario means, and is way too lazy to Google it. Carl is also an American, and for that he apologizes.
