7. Donna Noble (The End Of Time, Part Two)
The first time fans were introduced to Donna Noble, in the 2006 Christmas Special The Runaway Bride, she was due to tie the knot in a glitzy ceremony on Christmas Eve. The less said about that the better, though, but to summarise the events for those of you who don't know, it eventually transpired that her fiancé, Lance, was basically a minion of a half human, half spider creature who had been using Donna as a pawn in her failed attempt at world domination. Jeremy Kyle, eat your heart out. Suffice to say, Donna's originally happily ever after didn't quite go as planned and she ultimately lost her job, missed her wedding and became a widow on the same day... sort of. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, though, and the temp from Chiswick finally got the fairytale ending she deserved in 2010 when she made it down the isle (and all the way down it this time) to wed her new beau Shaun Temple in The End of Time, Part Two. This one wasn't secretly working for an extra terrestrial adversary which is always a bonus. All in all it was a bittersweet affair as Donna was unable to share in the joyous moment with her best friend, the Doctor, after having her memories of their time together wiped following the events of the Series 4 finale (don't worry - that hasn't been excluded from this list!). The Time Lord did make a fleeting appearance at the ceremony to drop off a winning lottery ticket so something tells us Donna and Shaun are gonna be just fine. It was a much nicer way to bid farewell to her compared to her previous exit in Journey's End which was basically far too traumatic for everyone concerned. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
