Doctor Who: 11 Reasons To Love The 11th Doctor

6. Rory Pond, Uh, Williams

Rory Pond Uh Williams Rory with the hipster hair and awkward mouth. Ah, what a dreamboat. Rory is a wonderful character for all television, let alone Doctor Who. He's sensitive, awkward, witty, empathetic, and emotional. In one scene, he can sport a terribly excellent mullet-cum-ponytail, in the next, he can deliver some ballsy baddasery as a flotilla of spacecraft explode behind him. Amy orders him around, the Doctor orders him around, and yet he remains such a strong individual. He is not defined by those around him (otherwise he'd just be a dopey, vapid husband who lies around at home waiting for his wife to return from her adventures). I was about to say that "he lets Amy wear the pants," but that infers that he (being male) had some sort of unspoken power to begin with that he relinquished; but no, he doesn't let Amy wear the pants in their relationship€”that's just the way they work as a couple. In fact, they share the pants. They save each other. They cry for each other. They fight for each other. Rory breaks down those crappy gender roles that define our culture. And that's awesome!
