Doctor Who: 11 Reasons To Love The 11th Doctor

5. Amy Pond

Amy Pond As if a brilliant Doctor and a marvelous TARDIS weren't enough, the writers gave us some equally memorable companions to travel with. First, we have Amy Pond€”the little girl waiting for a bedtime story. Adorable! Heartwarming! And yet€”intriguing. Beguiling. The first face the Doctor's 11th face saw was a child€”an imaginative, creative girl who let a stranger into her house to gobble down a ridiculous snack. How perfect, then, that the 11th Doctor is so ably likened to a child on so many occasions. But then the girl grew up€”and now she's playing dress-up! Perfect! One of the Doctor's all-time favourite activities. Amy Pond is a girl who knows what she wants and has the gumption to get it, but isn't just a "Strong Female Character" (think about how shallow that categorization is, really). She's extremely flawed, emotionally vulnerable, often confused, sometimes rash and ignorant, but she is always Amy Pond. She's independent€”she doesn't need the Doctor, or Rory, to be complete, but she loves them and so she desires to be with them. They need her as much (or more) as she needs them. She's also extremely pretty, but not in an objectified, sexualized way, and that's absolutely fantastic. She's also got great style. And she's Scottish. What's not to love?
