Doctor Who 12th Doctor: 5 Reasons Why Eddie Izzard Should Be Cast

2. He Actually WANTS The Role

THE RICHES: Eddie Izzard. CR: Prashant Gupta / FX328 This is a big problem I've been having recently. There's a bazillion different 'This Person Should Play The Doctor' articles on this site at the moment (each of which I have read and almost all I can level with) but each one leaves the same thought in my mind. 'Would he/she even want to play the Doctor? Do they even like the show? Do they even know the show's on air?' Come on, Colin Firth? Maggie Smith? Tom Hardy? They're just not gonna happen. Hugh Grant admitted that he regrets turning the role down, but was a long time ago people. Eddie Izzard on the other hand has been putting himself out there for years. Can you imagine the kind of fun a person could have with a role they've been denied for eight whole years? Can you imagine how hard he'd work? How long he'd stay? How dedicated he'd be? I'd say I'm not sure he'd be down for all the promotion and conventions and things of that variety, but hell, it's Eddie Izzard. I'm sure he's used to that by now. He knows what it's like to be a celebrity, and I'm sure he'd take the attention in his stride.
