6. James Nesbitt
Master-Making Role: Henry Jekyll in Jekyll Sort of like Cumberbatch and Scott, this is a bit predictable due to his association with Steven Moffat. But look at how good he is in everything he does. Nesbitt can be wickedly funny, an engaging anti-hero and a nasty piece of work at the flick of a switch. Naturally, The Master is insane, but what if The Doctor was unsure of just quite how twisted The Master could be? Hed be a very dangerous threat to Smiths Doctor, perhaps more so than any other of my choices. Imagine his role in Murphys Law mixed with his role as Hyde in Jekyll hed haunt childrens nightmares and perhaps be the first utterly terrifying Master weve had, and the definitive incarnation, like Tom Baker or Tennant are to the Doctor.
5. Aiden Turner
Master-Making Role: Mitchell in Being Human A younger choice, which may mirror the young Smith very well like Spall. But Turner brings an Irish charm and a cockiness to it that you can imagine him besting The Doctor for once. Remember that the Master has caused The Doctors death thrice now- with Turner as The Master, you can imagine him doing it again. Hes rather similar to Nesbitt in this respect (and its rather odd both are playing Dwarves in The Hobbit, but lets put coincidence aside). Many of you would have seen how violent he can be as a vampire, but how human he can be as well. Make him tortured and make The Doctor almost side with him, so hes not a complete villain.
