Doctor Who: 14 Actors Who Will NEVER Be The 14th Doctor
3. Tilda Swinton
Tilda Swinton is another of those actors who is perennially in the frame for the role of the Doctor. It was rumoured that she was keen to play the role for one series back when Chris Chibnall took over from Steven Moffat, but only for a limited one-series run. It's not clear whether this was ever a consideration or just made up by a fan, but we all know is it never came to pass.
Whilst she's an art house actor, Tilda is no stranger to big science fiction and fantasy franchises, having appeared in both Doctor Strange and The Chronicles of Narnia.
Looking at Swinton's filmography, she's constantly shifting gears in the roles that she plays; a valuable trait in portraying the Doctor. She even played three different parts in Luca Guadagnino's reimagining of Suspiria. It's highly unlikely she would tie herself down to a long-running series like Doctor Who. Things may be different if the show was to become a film franchise, however.
