Doctor Who: 14 Actors Who Will NEVER Be The 14th Doctor

12. Ben Wishaw

Doctor Who David Tennant Tenth Doctor

Q in James Bond. Paddington Bear. Doctor Who? Whilst Ben Whishaw has certainly got what a lot of people would call a Doctorish manner, how keen would he be to add another tentpole of British popular culture to his CV?

He's appeared in some stellar work alongside these bigger projects, and probably wouldn't want to add another huge commitment alongside these two titans of the British box office. Even if it remains to be seen if he'll be expected back as Q.

Whishaw feels like he could have been a contender for the Doctor back when they were casting for David Tennant's replacement. He'd have been very good as an alternative 11th Doctor, but the show and the role of the Doctor have changed so much since then that it would feel like a regressive step to go for another slightly awkward, geeky young British guy.

One for the missed opportunity multiverse, then.
