Doctor Who: 14 Actors Who Will NEVER Be The 14th Doctor

11. Olivia Colman

It's disappointing that Olivia Colman was overshadowed in her one and only Doctor Who appearance by the introduction of Matt Smith. Olivia Colman would be great as the Doctor, she's an all-rounder of a performer who can make you laugh and break your heart.

As such, she's incredibly in demand for a variety of roles. On Netflix alone, she's the Queen in The Crown, the voice of an evil sentient social media server in the terrific The Mitchells vs. The Machines, and a holidaying professor who becomes drawn to a young mother in Maggie Gyllenhaal's dark and compelling The Lost Daughter.

Quite simply, whilst she's often linked to the role, it's highly unlikely she would have the time or is at a point in her career to commit to as time-consuming (no pun intended) as the Doctor. She's one of the UK's greatest character actors, let's not tie her down!
