Doctor Who: 14 Actors Who Will NEVER Be The 14th Doctor

In many ways, it's crazy that Doctor Who wasn't a huge part of the television landscape back in the 1990s. There are multiple, complex reasons that during a period which saw The X-Files, Star Trek: The Next Generation and Buffy the Vampire Slayer air during prime time, the BBC never brought back Doctor Who.

The X-Files was huge in the 1990s and it captured the zeitgeist in such a way that, even after some disappointing final seasons and a woeful second film, we were still keen to be reunited with Mulder and Scully when the show was resurrected in 2016.

So with all of that, do we really think that Gillian Anderson would be interested in taking on another iconic science fiction role like the Doctor? Especially as she's still an in-demand actor who doesn't have to rely on CollectorMania appearances to keep the lights on? Probably not. And no, she's not playing The Rani either.
