Doctor Who: 14 Cool Details Revealed In Steven Moffat's Eleventh Hour Commentary

Over the course of his Doctor Who reign, Moffat wrote many fantastic episodes, with the Peter Capaldi story Heaven Sent standing tall as one of the writer's finest hours.

This episode gives us a neat little insight into the Doctor's problem-solving abilities. When he jumps out of a window and falls towards the water below, time slows down to such a ridiculous extent that he's able to enter a sort of "mind palace", explaining to the audience (and Clara) how he's going to escape, while he's falling.

Bearing this in mind while listening to the Eleventh Hour commentary, a not-particularly-special comment made by Moffat starts to take on a whole new meaning.

In the closing minutes of the episode, the conversation turns to the Doctor's heroics, and whether or not he actually has a plan when it comes to saving the day. In response to this topic, Moffat says that the Doctor would "step off a tall building and work out what to do about it on the way down" - almost the exact same thing that the Twelfth Doctor does in Heaven Sent.

Does this mean that Moffat was thinking about Heaven Sent all the way back in 2010? Well... probably not. All this shows us is that he really knows what he wants his Doctors to be like - so much so that a broad character description from a Series 5 commentary actually made it into a Series 9 episode. Wild.
