Doctor Who: 14 Cool Details Revealed In Steven Moffat's Wedding Of River Song Commentary

10. Upside-Down Dorium Was Shot In A Simple, Yet Clever Way

Doctor Who The Wedding Of River Song Dorium Maldovar

When the Doctor takes Dorium's boxed-up head back to the TARDIS, the head has been turned upside-down, which Dorium takes surprisingly well, all things considered. If we were in his metaphorical shoes, we'd definitely be doing a lot more complaining.

Dorium's upside-down head was filmed by turning the camera itself upside-down, and then getting Fisher-Becker to lie on the floor with some green material around his neck. This green was then keyed out in post-production, making it look as though Dorium's head had been severed.

A simple - yet effective - technique!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
