Doctor Who The Zygon Inversion Peter Capaldi speech

The final twenty minutes of The Zygon Inversion features one of Peter Capaldi's greatest moments on Doctor Who. Heck, based on the pure strength of his acting, it's probably one of the best moments in Doctor Who, full stop.

It's a lengthy sequence set inside a single room, with the Doctor attempting to stop the hostilities between the Zygons (represented by Zygon Clara) and the humans (represented by Kate). Here, Capaldi delivers an incredible speech about war, why being cruel to others isn't the way to get what you want, and how it's not impossible to forgive your enemies. We're getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

At a few points throughout this speech, the Doctor puts on a mocking accent, talking like he's the host of an early evening game show. Apparently, the idea for this accent came from Capaldi himself, who clearly felt like it would add an extra bit of pop to the scene - and he was right.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
