Doctor Who: 25 Actors We'd Love To Call The Doctor

6. Andrew Scott

What? That psycho from Sherlock? You really think he'd make a good Doctor. Well, yes. He's not only mad, and then some, but his Paul McCartney portrayal in Lennon Naked - alongside Nine himself, Christopher Eccleston - shows that Andrew Scott can play "chilled" as well as "unhinged". He's dry and dreamy - and, again, somewhat loony - in 'Dates' and even if he didn't use his natural Irish accent for the role of the Doctor, he'd certainly put his own spin on the character, just like he did with Jim Moriarty. Of course, knowing Steven Moffat makes you more likely to land jobs on Doctor Who. He probably wouldn't get it, but there are those of us that would love it if he did.

5. Robert Sheehan

I'll keep maintaining that Sheehan's a brilliant candidate for a Time Lord every time the conversation comes up, without fail. Because not only has he got the hair for it, he's got the flair for it. He's absurdly entertaining yet carrying a dark streak, and still only 26. He could easily be the Doctor in another twenty years time, when he's calmed down a little bit, but right now, he's the kind of actor that you can't take your eyes off when he's dancing about on screen. Another Irish actor, maybe Capaldi will set a precedent for future Doctors? Maybe we'll see more regional dialect?
