Doctor Who: 30 NuWho Characters Who Would've Made Fantastic Full-Time Companions
26. Rigsy
Appeared in: Flatline, Face the Raven.
Admittedly Jenna Coleman steals the show in Flatline (she usually did when it was more straightforward characterisation and less mystery about the girl), but Joivan Wade's pseudo-companion shows enough promise as Rigsy to want us to get to know him beyond the Doctor's acerbic "fluorescent pudding brain" summation of him. Moreover, the way he reluctantly leaves indicates he'd like to enjoy some TARDIS time (and space). And someone who calls his mum must be a nice lad.
Well, Rigsy's definitely front and centre in Face the Raven: he gets to pilot the TARDIS; goes through a gauntlet of murderous accusations in a Whoniverse version of Knockturn Alley; oh and he's staring death in the face. Fortunately, for him and his young family, Clara - strategically, recklessly, bravely - takes the chronolock off Rigsy. His beautiful memorial artwork on the TARDIS exterior shows he's more than living up to Clara's hairband.
