2. Quiet Dignity
All of the Doctors have managed this at one time or another. I think that Matt Smith has been the best at this aspect. He is the youngest Doctor with the oldest demeanor. While I love Matt Smith's vitalism, I am amazed by his ability to act his age. Not the actor's age, but the Doctor's. Now we have a Doctor who will act his own age and immediately outstrip most of his namesakes. I believe that the writers will have fun with the role reversal because I believe that Peter Capaldi's Doctor will have moments of juvenility, even if he's not puerile. On the other hand, he will pull off the moments in which he is an ancient, powerful and wise being fantastically. It's not just because of his greying hair or a few of the lines on that face. I mentioned before that I became a fan of his during his run as John Frobisher. The character is a humble and effective man with strong loyalties and a solemn bearing. He does have some humorous moments, but he is the man who stands nearly-fearless against the aliens' diplomatic invasion of Earth. The gravitas of the Doctor is not entirely a result of the actor's age. It is caused by the fact that he has an undeniable majesty that will enhance the
Doctor Who experience in ways that we cannot yet understand.
