Doctor Who: 5 Best Versions of the Iconic Theme

2. Tom Baker Theme Sequence-1974-1979

Tom Baker's theme has got to be the most well known, and most popular of all the Doctor Who themes. It was even shown briefly in Family Guy's Star Wars special Blue Harvest. Everyone loves the TARDIS opening and then the face of Tom Baker appearing, looking ever so serious. But the one thing about these theme sequences, especially Tom's, is that people remember watching Doctor Who in their childhood. That's one reason it's important to keep the face in the sequence. If someone hasn't seen the program in years, and they suddenly see an old episode on the television, the opening alone can bring back memories of hiding behind the couch, or smiling at Tom's bulging eyes and toothy grin. The music was spectacular in this opening.
