4. A Less... Romantic Time Lord
William Hartnell's Doctor never frenched anyone, to my knowledge. But between the three most recent incarnations of our dual hearted romeo, he's racked up a kiss count that heads into double figures. People like a dashing hero, and they also like romance, I get that. But I don't think that's really what Doctor Who should focus on. He's over 1000 now, for crying out loud, I think he might be after something more...long term? The show already has the best love story I've ever experienced, and that's between the Doctor and the TARDIS. Think about it! Two outcasts, running away from home together. What's more, the Doctor specifically picked the model that's outdated and flawed, because, let's face it, the weird ones are always more fun. That's the only love story the show needs, and it comes across constantly in many scenes through the care and attention the Doctor gives the TARDIS. "But what about the companions?" I hear you cry. "Don't they get any love?" Of course they do! The Doctor passes onto them a great love and appreciation for the universe, showing them the true beauty that it beholds, and, in my opinion, this is a stronger love than can ever be felt between two people. Doctor Who, like I mentioned before, has always seemed different to me from any other show, which is why I feel it should focus on these more subtle passions rather than the more...obvious variety. Did you hear that, Amy? SUBTLE.
