File this one under "What the hell Russell", because some of the monsters potentially appearing in the 60th anniversary are rather unexpected, to put it lightly.

During a night shoot in Cardiff earlier this year, onlookers spotted two strange-looking alien costumes participating in filming: one white and furry, the other green, tall, and insect-like.

Most fans had no idea what they were seeing, but the more hardcore Whovians out there recognised the furry fella as Beep the Meep, a truly obscure character who first appeared in a Fourth Doctor comic-strip in the 1980s.

Equally as obscure is the insectoid chap, who looks like a Wrarth Warrior, a species which also appeared in that same Fourth Doctor comic-strip. The sole purpose of Wrarth Warriors is actually to deal with the Meeps, so it makes total sense for these two villains to be together in the 60th.

Were these costumes there to misdirect fans? Or is RTD seriously including Beep the Meep and a Wrarth Warrior in the 60th anniversary? Maybe it's another Toymaker trick? Who the hell knows what's going on here, but we can't wait to find out.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
