Doctor Who 60th Anniversary: Predicting Chances Of Every Doctor Returning
6. The Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston)
Though Christopher Eccleston recently returned to play the Ninth Doctor in some Big Finish audio dramas, he's made it pretty clear that the chances of him making an onscreen comeback are almost nonexistent.
And while many of his comments on the matter were made before the announcement that RTD is coming back, that isn't likely to change things. In fact, that could make his return less likely, with Eccleston openly admitting that one of the reasons he disliked making the 2005 revival was that he found it "too tiring" working with RTD, producer Phil Collinson, and executive producer Julie Gardner.
And guess what? All three of those creatives are returning to the show in 2023.
But hey, who knows. People can change their minds. Maybe RTD has mended bridges with Eccleston over the last few months, and convinced him to come back for a quick cameo. But based on everything we know right now... we can't see Eccleston donning the leather jacket ever again, let alone for the 60th.
Chances: 2/10.
