Doctor Who: 7 Most Memorable Moments Of Wilfred Mott

2. "Don't Say That Like It's Shameful" (The End Of Time)

Wilf is reunited with The Doctor in David Tennant's final story The End of Time, receiving the honour of serving as the tale's main companion. After being encouraged to find The Doctor by a mysterious woman, Wilf manages to eventually track him down with the help of a network of local seniors. It seems they have reunited just in time, as Donna's memory wipe is failing, and The Doctor and Wilf must find out why before her brain burns.

The earlier mentioned mysterious woman, widely believed to be The Doctor's mother, appears periodically throughout the two-part story. At one point, the woman scoffs at the fact that Wilf did not kill another man during his service in World War II. Wilf, in a rare moment of almost anger, retorts:

"No. Don't say that like it's shameful."

The scene was inspired by the real life war time experiences of Bernard Cribbins. Just like his beloved character, Cribbins loyally served his country, but refrained from taking lives in the process, and was proud of that fact.
