Doctor Who: 7 Reasons Why Peter Davison Was The Best Doctor

1. Every Single Thing He Does In Kinda

Kinda The primary way that every single interaction that the Fifth Doctor has with any other character in Kinda can be described in one word. 'Understanding'. At one point I read a fairly thug-handed criticism of Kinda that basically argued that it was a crap story because John Pertwee's Doctor would have gotten it all resolved within the first five minutes. This was only partially eased by a rebuttal review that was posted pointing out that he would have gotten it resolved by getting every single person involved killed because he couldn't be bothered to take the time to actually understand what was going on. This all seems unduly harsh from both sides to me, but I would point out that the key moment of the story turns on the Doctor being willing to consider that he might not know everything. "Are you an idiot?' "I suppose I must be" Humility, compassion, understanding and sacrifice. Those are the fixed points of the Fifth Doctor. That's why he's my favorite. Well... that and because he was The Doctor when I was 12...
