Apart from the return of John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, three more alumni of Doctor Who are also rumoured to be returning to the show.

First up we have the return of Chris Noth as Jack Robertson, who we last saw in Arachnids in the UK. One popular theory suggests that Robertson bought the remains of the burnt-out Dalek from The Government Communications Headquarters to produce his own “drone” version of the Daleks. The actor was spotted filming in and around Cardiff at the same time as the production for the new special. In retaliation with their image no longer being that of a pure Dalek, the real Skaro Daleks return to earth to reclaim their name. Set photos show a battle between the classic bronze looking Daleks we've known since 2005 and a new slick robotic Dalek.

Next up we have Gray O'Brien who is also rumoured to appear in this year’s festive special. This would mark the second appearance from the actor who previously played Rickston Slade in the 2007 Christmas special, Voyage of the Damned. This also happens to be the most-watched episode of NuWho ever with its nightly viewing figures reaching 13.31 million viewers compared to the last special, Resolution of the Daleks, which attracted 7.13 million viewers. O'Brien is likely to be playing a brand-new character but then again, this is Doctor Who so anything could happen.

Nicholas Briggs will be returning to voice all the variations of the Daleks. Revolution Of The Daleks will mark the 43rd appearance as Briggs in the voice of The Daleks, making him the longest-running returning character actor in the show. Briggs has appeared in almost every series of Doctor Who since it returned in 2005, with Series 10 being one of the only ones not to feature a full Dalek episode.
