6. A Well-Defined Clara
Claras character is basically a mess at this point. Shes been all over the place, literally and figuratively. At first I thought this might be a deliberate choice on Steven Moffats part but it now appears to be more likely that writers werent given clear guidance as to what this character was really all about. To her credit, Jenna Louise Coleman has done everything asked of her convincingly portraying Clara in about fifty different ways but unfortunately the indecisiveness is making it very hard to connect with and care about the character. Clara feels under-developed; as if she hasnt quite stepped out of the clay from which she was molded. She does things but we dont understand why shes doing them. Thats a shame because Coleman is brilliant and deserves the opportunity to shine. Right now shes the most important piece of cardboard in the Doctors life. I hope series 8 turns her into a person.
