Doctor Who: 8 Actors That Would Make AMAZING Doctors!

1. Hugh Grant

Hugh Grant is arguably the most well-known name on the list. And he'd be an amazing doctor in any shape or form, there's no doubt about that!

He has a diverse range of performances, from his early 2000s days in romantic comedies (Notting Hill, Love Actually, to name a few) to today, where he plays villainous characters, whether it's a hilariously twisted conman in Paddington 2 or a more serious role as seen in A Very English Scandal.

If Hugh Grant becomes an incarnation of the Doctor, there's just no knowing what direction he'll take the character, which makes this entry so intriguing! His versatility as an actor reveals that he could perform the doctor as a charming spy-like character comparable to James Bond or as a comical and extravagant persona reminiscent of his role as Phoenix Buchanan in Paddington.

Hugh Grant even mimicked the Doctor in a 1999 parody, and based on his comedic style; we can easily imagine him combating Daleks and Weeping Angels with wit and finesse in a full series.

It's no surprise he was already approached by Russell T. Davis, who was interested in Hugh Grant for the role of the ninth doctor in 2005, but Grant turned him down. This is due to Grant's doubts about the revival's success. He was clearly mistaken, and he has openly expressed regret for declining the role since then. Hopefully, this hints that Hugh Grant could be a strong contender in the new Doctor Who series, written by Russell T. Davis. And we're surely not complaining!
