What's A Geek had a special treat for Filipino Whovians this April Fool's Day. They exclusively revealed GMA 7's plans to launch a local adaptation of the world's most popular sci-fi franchise starring actor and TV host Vic Sotto as the titular Time Lord. The remake would be loosely based on the original but producers would strive to make it "as Pinoy as possible" by introducing changes such as the TARDIS being a a flying nipa (above), establishing the Doctor as a descendant of Jose Rizal and introducing a Time Lady who gets stranded in the 1800s. The first episode will see the Doctor and his wife Susan (as played by Kristine Hermosa, stranded in EDSA while they deal with the evil Daleks, reimagined as wizards who can turn helpless people into goats. So there you go. Pinoy Doctor Who, (not) coming to a screen near you in September 2015. Can't wait!
