Debut episodes from NuWho Doctors have always been a mixed bag. Eccleston and Smith's Doctors had solid first episodes, whereas Tennant and Capaldi's were slightly more average. So, Whittaker's introduction episode had a lot to carry in order to entice viewers, and thankfully, this episode was well-received by both audiences and critics.

The Woman Who Fell To Earth - which had over 8 million overnight viewers - remains the most-watched episode of Whittaker's tenure. Following the episode's airing, the general response was quite positive for the Thirteenth Doctor, with many fans appreciating this more cheerful incarnation.

The episode covered a lot of ground, introducing the Doctor and the new companions, while also exposing the ensemble to a terrifying monster. Plus, the emotional effect of Grace O'Brien's death tying into Ryan's video at the beginning of the episode was a solid plot twist that enhanced the storyline further.

It may have been Whittaker's first adventure, but it remains one of her best overall.
