4. Does The Doctor Really Consult With His Former Incarnations When He Is Alone?

Mummy On The Orient Express had some great throw backs to Classic Who, from the Doctor opening a cigarette case and offering jelly babies to Professor Moorhouse, to wearing the First Doctors neck tie for much of the episode. There was the sense of the Doctor revisiting his old selves, none more so when we saw him in his carriage having a chat with his old Doctors. Peter Capaldi delivered a fantastic Tom Baker impression, suggesting that when he needs to work something out, he chats with previous Doctors to get their thoughts on the situation. This series we've seen the Doctor travelling by himself a lot, with Clara popping into his life from time to time. Is this how he keeps company to stop from getting too isolated, particularly when he has a problem to solve? It's a great idea. Whereas a normal person will tap into their memories, the Doctor can tap into whole personalities as well. It may be verging on schizophrenic, but then how do you effectively explain the psychology of a man that can transform his whole face and personality every time he dies?
