Doctor Who: 8 Great Eighth Doctor Audio Stories

2. An Earthly Child (Bonus release, 2009)

Did you ever wonder what happened to Susan after the First Doctor left her on Earth in the year 2164? The planet was still reeling from an invasion by the Daleks, but she was young and in love, and the Doctor had saved the day, so we all wanted to think everything would be just fine. But we wondered, most of us. This story answers at least some of the questions we€™d had. Yes, Susan is alive and well, now some thirty years after the Dalek invasion. She married the rebel leader, David, and the two had a son, Alex, who is the Doctor€™s half-human great-grandson. Earth itself is full of all sorts of xenophobia and Alex has fallen in with one of the groups, unaware that he himself has alien heritage. This is a great story. It€™s a wonderful one for the continuity whores like me, and it introduces Alex to the series while reintroducing Susan. They later become major players in the Eighth Doctor€™s life, and if you have any interest in listening to any of his audios, I cannot recommend this one highly enough.
