But the things she proved capable of, driven by her love for her children, were astonishing. She navigated another planet, drove a machine thousands of years too advanced for her, and then saved an entire race of tree-people by navigating them through the universe. The pure feelings of humanity can steer through the stars. The Doctor was basically useless in this episode, doing nothing but getting everyone into trouble. Madge Arwell was the hero, was the one who defeated the bad guys and saved everyone. And she did it for human reasons. Her humanity drove her, her motherhood led her to greatness, and she did the impossible.
