While Capaldi's performance regularly comes under fire for being 'too dark' it's also apparent, on closer inspection, that the Twelfth Doctor has a great deal of warmth and humour to him, too. Admittedly, the Twelfth Doctor's humour is often unintentional and quite dark or difficult to spot. Indeed, compared to his predecessor he's practically Batman. However, when contrasted with some of Peter's darker scenes, his moments of humour allow for a great deal of affection to be felt toward this incarnation of the Doctor. At times the Twelfth Doctor can seem grumpy, stuffy, and difficult to like. Yet when he lets his guard down and shows a hint of humour behind the attack eyebrows, it makes it all the more powerful to watch
