Doctor Who: 9 Reasons Why Peter Jackson Directing Is A Brilliant Idea

6. Mixing Comedy and Drama is a Hallmark of Peter Jackson€™s Work

A Doctor Who director is often straddling a line between light-heartedness and very dark elements indeed. It takes real talent to blend these seamlessly. The Time Lord can be friendly, awkward, flirtatious, deceptive, filled with rage and face heart-breaking life and death decisions all in the span of about 20 minutes. A Who director must have a keen sensibility to switch between so much emotion but also keep it in check so it doesn€™t go over the top. Mr. Jackson cut his teeth in the horror-comedy genre and is capable of everything from broad slapstick to subtle humor to deep pathos. He may be challenged by the restricted time format but will surely rise to the occasion. In fact he may relish it as nothing stirs an artist€™s creativity quite as much as a limitation one must find a way around.
