7. Peter Jackson To Direct

It has been one of the most hotly discussed Doctor Who rumours of recent years and 2015 may just be the year that it finally comes to light. Is Peter Jackson about to direct the Doctor? Well, it's all just mere speculation at the moment, of course, but with the final installment of his acclaimed The Hobbit trilogy due to hit cinemas next month, now would seemingly be the perfect time for Peter to commit to a new project. A self-confessed Whovian, Peter has previously revealed that he would happily work on the series in exchange for a life size Dalek, and Steven Moffat has granted him an open invitation to lend his acclaimed creativity and Oscar-winning vision to the Time Lord's adventures. It's likely that they'd make the most of Peter's involvement by signing him up for an "event" episode, such as a series premiere, finale or Christmas Special.
