Doctor Who Big Finish: Complete Dalek Universe Review
6. The Trojan Dalek
For a series called Dalek Universe, it is not until this story, the half-way point, that the Daleks actually show up properly. Or do they...
As the title suggests, this story features Daleks, that are not quite what they seem. A plot explored throughout this series, and later on as well, is weapons to be used against the Daleks, which is the intention of these Trojan Daleks. We've seen some pretty chilling experimentation of the Daleks before, but this story might be one of the darkest uses of the classic monsters.
Once again this story gives a lot of development for Mark, even having him run into an old friend, who he learns is terminally ill. Mark's development in this set has been handled beautifully, giving him so much life. Whilst Tennant is clearly having fun with these scripts.
This story is the perfect mix of light and dark. And highlights why John Dorney is one of Big Finish's greatest writers. The final scenes of this story cements this, with a finale which packs an emotional punch. But you got to hear that for yourself...
A thrilling adventure, ending in tragedy which will impact the remainder of the series.
