Doctor Who: Eve Of The Daleks Review - 9 Ups & 4 Downs

9. DOWN - Eve Of The Stormtroopers

Doctor Who Eve of the Daleks
BBC

On the topic of Daleks, we are unfortunately going to have to move on to our first thumbs down of the list, and it’s one we’ve seen before…

Dear god were these Daleks useless. You’d think with their new machine gun exterminators that fire multiple times per second, they’d be near unstoppable, but it appears these three attended the Stormtrooper school of aiming, much like Sontarans from the Flux. It really harms the threat level of the villain when they miss twenty consecutive shots at close range in some particularly egregious action sequences.

In fact, the Daleks don’t actually get a kill this episode on anybody that isn’t a completely stationary target. It makes the whole escape plan redundant when it feels like the protagonists can simply run to the exit with ease. It also makes you question why the cast don’t at least try to run away when they’re cornered, rather than kindly standing still so that the Daleks with the bonky aim can hit them.
