Doctor Who: Every Dalek Story In The New Series Ranked WORST To BEST

6. The Stolen Earth/Journey's End (2008)

The Daleks

Forget Avengers: Infinity War. The series four finale is still the best large-scale science fiction crossover ever put to the screen.

Bringing characters from spin-offs Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures into the main show, as well as featuring the return of past companions, gives the entire production an epic quality that future showrunners have often tried to replicate, with varying results.

This story also saw the welcome return of Davros, the creator of the Daleks, to the show after a twenty-year absence. Julian Bleach plays the mad scientist with an unhinged brilliance, giving his genocidal rants a truly terrifying edge.

While the Daleks delight everyone by doing what they do best, trying to destroy the Earth yet again, this two-parter does falter in its final act. Russell T Davies quite clearly writes himself into a corner and the only route he can find out is for the newly Time Lord infused Donna to hit a few buttons, immediately blowing up all of the Daleks and saving the day.

Still, as a conclusion to the Tenth Doctor’s final full season, it’s a strong effort and earns its place in Doctor Who fans’ hearts.

Owen Davies hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
