Doctor Who: Every Dalek Story In The New Series Ranked WORST To BEST
7. The Time of the Doctor (2013)
With the car crash that was Series 7 behind him, Steven Moffat needed to pull out all the stops to make Matt Smith’s last two specials as incredible as they could be.
The first special, the fiftieth anniversary episode The Day of the Doctor, is generally agreed by fans to be a satisfactory effort despite some narrative wobbles.
Ultimately, how much you enjoy The Time of the Doctor really depends on your opinion of the Eleventh Doctor. It is an unapologetic love letter to his era, wrapping up several long-running plot threads and providing fans with the most explosive regeneration in the modern series.
But the Daleks themselves don’t really get a chance to fully shine here. While they’re certainly the most prominent villains in the coalition assaulting Trenzalore, they still find themselves jostling for attention with the likes of the Cybermen and the Sontarans. This is a decent story and one of the stronger regeneration episodes for a departing Doctor, but the Daleks only fill a small role in the overall picture.
