Doctor Who: Every Dalek Story In The New Series Ranked WORST To BEST

5. Army of Ghosts/Doomsday (2006)

“The sphere is not ours.”

These words spoken by the Cyber Leader to the Doctor at Army of Ghosts’ climax ranks among one of the most explosive lines in the show’s history. With zero indication that we’re in for anything more than a Cybermen lead finale, the mysterious Void Ship in Torchwood One’s basement suddenly opens…

And out come four Daleks!

It’s a moment that made every viewer’s jaw drop to the floor and is certainly the best cliff-hanger in the Tenth Doctor’s era. Most of Doomsday is then devoted to giving the fans exactly what they’ve wanted since the Cybermen made their debut in 1966. An epic battle between them and the Daleks.

While the finale also features Rose Tyler’s tragic departure from the show, it’s quite clear that long-time fan Russell T Davies is having the time of his life staging this showdown between the Doctor’s two greatest villains.

The cure-all for both armies being “just suck them back into the void” may be a little contrived but it doesn’t really matter. This is an emotional, pulse-pounding finale that reminds us exactly why we love seeing both the Daleks and the Cybermen on screen so much.

Owen Davies hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
