Doctor Who: Every Doctor Kiss Ranked Worst To Best

14. John Smith And Joan Redfern

Doctor Who New Earth Tenth Doctor Rose kiss

"You had to go fall in love with a human. And it wasn't me"

Poor Martha Jones. Speaking of Ten's other loves, while disguised as a 1913 human schoolteacher, John Smith falls in love with matron Joan Redfern, much to the frustration of Martha.

The Series 3 two-parter Human Nature and The Family O Blood, has at its core a tender and heart-breaking romance between John and Joan. The love between the two is beautifully written and superbly acted by Tennant and Jessica Hynes. The flash-forward where we see the two getting married and growing old together is deeply upsetting and one of the show's most emotional scenes.

The only reason this kiss isn't higher up the list. is that it simply isn't as memorable as the ones with main companions.
