Doctor Who: Every Doctor Ranked From Worst To Best

16. The Curator (Tom Baker)

Doctor Who The Day of the Doctor Tom Baker the Curator
BBC Studios

The Curator is heavily implied to be a future regeneration of the Doctor. Tom Baker 'returns' to the role for the 50th anniversary of the show, delighting fans while shattering the understood rules of regeneration.

The short scene displays Baker's booming tenor, alongside Matt Smith's excited glee. The dialogue between them is just vague enough to be retconned if the need arises, yet the return of David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor seems to have confirmed that, yes, the Curator is a return to one of the "old favourites".

Quite frankly, it was a wonderful moment, a true gift to the fans. As the scene was so short, the Curator ranks a little low on this list, yet if there is some way to have him return in a future episode, he would be very, very welcome back.
