Doctor Who: Every NuWho Companion Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Captain Jack Harkness

Doctor Who Captain Jack Harkness Bad Wolf

How does one describe Jack Harkness, without delving into filth? Perhaps its best to say that he looks good for his age!

Originally a con man, Jack fell in with The Doctor and Rose when they met in wartime England, before travelling with them to the future and dying at the hands (stalks?) of the Daleks. Rose Tyler, possessed by the Time Vortex, brings him back. Forever.

Unable to die and remain dead, Jack returned to Earth in the past, eventually joining with Torchwood, the organisation that had been created by Queen Victoria to track and, if necessary, deal with The Doctor and visitors from other worlds. Under his leadership, Torchwood became a force for good.

He has most recently been seen interacting with the companions of The Thirteenth Doctor, though he himself has not yet met her. With series 13 arriving soon, fingers are crossed that Captain Jack will find his way back inside the TARDIS, potentially as a longer term companion this time.
