Doctor Who: Every NuWho Companion Ranked From Worst To Best

8. Sarah-Jane Smith

Doctor Who Sarah Jane Smith
BBC

Sarah-Jane is the only of the pre-revival companions (not counting The Master) to feature on this list. Her reintroduction in School Reunion ranks among the greatest of The Tenth Doctor's stories, while also allowing Sarah-Jane to get the goodbye (for a time, at least) that she deserved from him.

Everything about her story in the revived series works, not to mention the fact that she got her own show. She also featured in the last scenes that David Tennant filmed in character as The Tenth Doctor, echoing the lines that Sarah-Jane spoke to The Fourth Doctor before leaving the TARDIS all those years ago.

Sarah-Jane, through her own series, also managed to meet The Eleventh Doctor (which also included an appearance from Jo Grant!) Elisabeth Sladen sadly passed away in 2011 following a battle with cancer.

She will always be remembered as one of Doctor Who's most popular characters.
